We appreciate the value of engaging and working in partnership with our stakeholders. That is why we are committed to being open, honest and transparent. This helps us formulate strategy and policy and improve our operations and services.
Our stakeholders are the groups of people who matter most to our business. They include those groups and individuals who have an interest in what we do, how we do it, and the impact that we can have as a business.
As an energy business we work with our stakeholders in many ways including on a formal, informal, structured and ad hoc basis. By listening to them we can better understand emerging trends and material issues, and how to prioritize among them.
Relationships and trust are the foundation of everything we do. Our customers entrust not only their products but also their aspirations and their plans for the future. We want to be their partner in good as well as challenging times and have a long-term perspective in everything we do. It is our job to listen, to use our knowledge in a simple way, giving clear advice to our customers on how maximize the value from our storage business.
An engaging, inclusive and stimulating work environment encourages high quality performance as well as high employee satisfaction and loyalty. This is in the interest of both customers and shareholders. To establish our position as a renowned storage and logistics services provider JOTC must attract, develop and retain the best people so that we can provide impeccable services to our customers. We are committed to listening to our employees. We communicate with them regularly through team meetings, learning sessions, briefings and our intranet.
As a company, we are an integrated part of society, and we know that what we do has an impact. Therefore, we want to contribute to building a society we all want to, and can, be part of. In addition to the role that our business plays, we support local communities. We want to make a positive contribution to the communities we operate in Aqaba and Madounah. We work in partnership with local organizations, NGOs and colleges to support our projects and goals.
As a company we have outlined our commitment to be open and transparent in our business dealings. As part of this commitment, we work with local communities adjacent to our terminals, holding regular community liaison meetings discussing matters that may affect them. We also give priority to the highly-qualified candidates from the local community to join our company.
We engage with regulatory and political stakeholders to help them better understand our business, and therefore contribute to the policy and the environment where we operate.
We maintain a close working relationship with many regulatory bodies, such as the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, the Ministry of Environment, Jordan Institution for Standards and Metrology all of whom are key stakeholders that help us make decisions which can fundamentally affect the way we do business.
We also maintain a close relationship with the media, which plays a vital role in creating public awareness about our business. Engaging with the media is crucial to disseminating important messages about our company to our stakeholders.
As a company owned by the Government of Jordan, JOTC’s overall goal is to create sustainable shareholder value for the government and the citizens of Jordan. The key to achieving this goal is a strong focus on financial performance, quality management and internal control. We also focus on applying the Jordanian corporate governance code for private shareholding companies.
JOTC purchases goods and services from a variety of local companies and international groups. We require our suppliers to live up to good social and environmental standards. We know that we need to manage and mitigate the environmental and social impacts so we work closely with all of our suppliers and partners to make sure they keep to our ethical business principles throughout their own operations.
