Memorandum of Understanding between JOTC and the Jordan Industrial Estates Company “JIEC”.

Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, a memorandum of understanding was signed at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources between the Jordan Oil Terminals Company “JOTC” and the Jordan Industrial    Estates Company “JIEC” for the purpose of supplying Al-Muwaqqar Development Estate “MDE” with natural gas.

The memorandum was signed by JOTC's General Manager, Engineer Hasan Al-Heyari, and JIEC's General Manager, Mr. Omar Jwaeed, in the presence of Mr. Shadi Ramzi Al-Majali, Chairman of JOTC's Board of Directors, Dr. Luay Sahwil, Chairman of JIEC’s Board of Directors, Engineer Alaa Zriqat, Assistant General Manager for Operations at JIEC, and Engineer Mohammed Al-Qatatsheh, Director of Commercial and Procurement Department at JOTC.

Dr. Al-Kharabsheh emphasized the importance of delivering natural gas to industries, which comes as an implementation of one of the recommendations of the Economic Modernization Vision. Both parties reached an agreement to establish natural gas infrastructure network within MDE, in addition to conducting a study on how to establish, own, finance, manage, and operate this network. He further pointed out that the main goal of such memoranda is to serve the national economy and support investors in the industrial sector by reducing energy costs through increasing the contribution of natural gas in the overall energy mix to reduce the cost of energy on the national economy.

In turn, Eng. Al-Heyari stated that JOTC has undertaken the required tasks from the government natural gas company, aiming to increase the contribution of natural gas in the overall energy mix to reduce the cost of energy on the national economy. This includes studying how to implement the new infrastructure to supply industrial cities and implement internal networks for industrial cities, all for the purpose of delivering natural gas to cities and industrial clusters.

On his part, Mr. Jwaeed clarified that the goals of the Jordan Industrial Estates Company include establishing, developing, and managing industrial cities on a scale that covers all the Kingdom's governorates with a comprehensive concept that combines providing basic services and infrastructure services such as water, electricity, roads, and communications, as well as support services. This also includes preparing the investment structure and enhancing the elements of attracting industrial investments by providing integrated infrastructure and necessary services to attract and localize investments.
