JOB SUMMARY

The Control Room Operator is responsible for managing the operational processes and monitoring the site from the control room, which is required for various operations, such as storing, loading and unloading petroleum derivative trucks, in a safe and efficient manner to ensure that operations run smoothly according to the established procedures and standards. The Control Room Operator shall act as the link between Operations Engineers, field operators and loading supervisor in all routine activities and coordination.

JOB DESCRIPTION / Main Tasks & Duties

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Remotely through the Terminal automation system operates product pumps of various sizes, valves, air compressors, firefighting and other safety equipment, fire water and foam systems, …etc.
Direct all operators in the field with necessary actions.
Checks and monitors DCS ongoing processes and running equipment to ensure that operating variables (temperatures, pressures, product level, flow rates, etc.) are within the allowable limits.
Checks and monitors all trucks’ operations process through TMS system.
Preparing DCS trend’s alarms and troubleshooting and reporting to shift engineers.
Communicate with all personnel in case of emergencies and operational activities.
Generate all control room logs and reports.
Stop any activity within the terminal in violation of the company’s HSSE procedures and standards.
Being an active member of the Terminal Fire Fighting/ Emergency Response Team, the Operator must be familiar with the effective utilization of all fire-fighting and related equipment.
Immediately deal with malfunctions or emergencies, such as gas or chemical leaks, or equipment problems, and take the necessary measures in accordance with the protocols followed in emergency situations and according to the approved emergency plan to ensure the safety of the terminals and workers.
Regularly report near-misses, unsafe acts and conditions, and immediately report any incident or accident that may occur to the Shift Leader.
Comply with all safety, environmental, health and fire prevention rules and procedures defined and set out by the company.
Any other reasonable duties may be assigned.
Vessel discharge operation (AOT):
Set up the readiness of the pipelines (lineup) for transferring cargo from the ship to the shore tanks.
Monitoring and comparing field readings reported by the field operator with the readings from the control room systems.
Notifying the vessel’s captain in emergency situations using the designated emergency communication channel, such as in case of stopping the transfer operation.

Qualifications

Educational Qualification	Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a related field.
Years of Experience	2-3 years of relevant experience.
Languages	Arabic, English
